Sue was a time traveler and needed Reed to renounce good/become a genocidal mass murderer, because Sue wanted Reed to commit acts of mass murder as part of an arcane ritual to create man made versions of the Infinity Gems. Avengers By Jonathan Hickman Omnibus Vol. (For those unfamiliar it turns out that Ultimate Sue Storm was pure evil all along and her future self murdered Reed's parents (something Hickman implied Reed did, off-panel, as the point of no return for him becoming evil) and manipulated Reed's entire descent into evil as far as rejecting him and driving him to become a mass murderer. You need the non-Hickman issues for any Maker/Ultimate Reed collection, because they set up Reed's status quo in Avengers. I'm pretty sure Hickman's involvement in #10-12 is about as big as in Avengers World: he talked a bit about it with the actual writer. ![]() I'd prefer the collection end on Ultimates #9. ![]()
